We didn’t have beats at 1UP, but I might as well have given how much I covered God of War. Over the course of about five years, I did just about everything you could do: set up exclusive previews, broke news stories, conducted interviews, wrote reviews, tracked down footage of cut features, appeared on The 1UP Show, and — most notably for this post — put together two 1UP Cover Stories, one on Chains of Olympus and the other on God of War 3.

We tried to get a proper God of War 3 reveal cover on EGM, but Game Informer’s circulation made that impossible, so I made the best of that situation by doing an interview series tied with the game’s reveal.
