For Polygon’s third cover story, I put together an online magazine about Japan’s game industry. This is, in part, an homage to EGM and Edge’s Japan theme issues from years back, where they lined up various interviews and stories on games made in Japan.
Beyond the text, I was happy with the bonus features we were able to include. Like the cover art gallery featuring different takes on the state of Japan’s game industry, illustrated by Gravity Rush artist Takeshi Oga, Doshin the Giant creator Kazutoshi Iida, and others. And the jukebox that plays four songs from Brave Wave as a soundtrack for the issue.
One detail I love: Our apps team added a dotted line and animated pair of scissors to the second page where you can download the cover art — a reference to how Weekly Famitsu gifts readers download codes to clip out in Japan.
